Buying and launch
When can I buy one?
Join the waitlist and you will be first to know when we launch. No payment is taken and there is nothing to cancel.
How much will it cost?
Not announced yet. We would rather stay quiet than put a figure on it that we might have to change.
Is the waitlist a pre-order?
No. It is a list of people who want to hear first. Nothing is charged, no card details are taken, and there is nothing to cancel if you change your mind later.
Where will you ship to?
We will confirm that when we launch. If you tell us where you are as you join the waitlist, it genuinely helps us work out where to go first.
The terrarium
Do I have to buy the glass from you?
No. The system is made to fit a glass terrarium you already own, so you can keep the one you like the look of.
Does it need an internet connection?
The terrarium does not. Climate, light and watering run on the device itself, so it keeps going if the connection drops. A connection is what lets you check in from elsewhere and get alerts. Scanning a Plant Tag and talking to vIQ do both need one, since the journal and the assistant live online.
How much looking after does it need?
Day to day is already handled: climate, light and watering run themselves. What is left is the pleasant part of gardening. Top up the reservoir, clean the glass now and then, feed your plants, trim what gets ambitious, and keep an eye on the substrate. A terrarium that is genuinely alive keeps changing, and that is rather the point of one.
Can I add to it later?
Yes. Soil probes go in where you want more detail underneath. Extra light and rain panels reach further across a longer terrarium. A solar spotlight picks out whatever you want people to look at.
Plants and profiles
What is a verdIQore Eco Profile?
A complete set of conditions for one kind of plant: how warm, how humid, how bright, how long the day runs and how often it rains. You choose the plant, and the terrarium holds those conditions.
What if my plant is not in the library?
Use the closest profile and tweak it, or make one from scratch and keep it. The library keeps growing, and you can ask vIQ what it would suggest for the settings.
Can I grow several different plants together?
Usually, and the useful question is which ones are comfortable in the same conditions. The app helps you put together a planting that works as a group instead of a set of compromises.
Do you sell plants?
No. We make the system that looks after them. Where you buy the plants is up to you, and a good local grower will usually beat anything sent through the post.
The app, BioSight and vIQ
What is vIQ?
The assistant inside the app. It answers questions about your terrarium, suggests plants that would suit it, and tells you what it is noticing in the glass.
Does vIQ change my settings by itself?
Not yet. Right now it suggests, identifies and flags what it notices, and the next step is yours.
Can I see inside when I am away?
Yes. verdIQore BioSight is the camera in the lid, so you can look in from anywhere, and your plants gather a picture record of how they have changed.
Is BioSight recording all the time?
No. You choose when BioSight takes its pictures, and you can open a live view yourself whenever you want one of those.
Plant Tags
Do Plant Tags need a terrarium?
No, and that is rather the point. Use them wherever you like: a windowsill, a bed, the allotment. With a terrarium or without one is entirely up to you.
Will they survive outdoors?
They are made to. Weatherproof, printed rather than stuck on, and meant to stay readable in a pot or a bed instead of fading over one summer.
Can I move a tag to a different plant?
Yes. Reassign it from the app whenever you like. The old plant keeps its record, archived rather than deleted, so nothing you wrote down is lost.
Your data
What do you do with my email address?
Reply to you, tell you when we launch, and sign you in to your account. We do not sell it and we do not pass it around. You can leave the list from any message we send.
