Eco profiles

Pick the plant. It handles the rest.

Every plant wants something slightly different, and the hard part with the interesting ones is knowing what, then holding it steady for months. A verdIQore Eco Profile is that knowledge, already worked out. Point your camera at a plant and vIQ will even work out which one you need.

What it is

Every plant, already understood.

A verdIQore Eco Profile is a complete set of conditions for one kind of plant. You choose what you are growing, and the terrarium takes it from there: the warmth, the moisture in the air, the light and how long it lasts, and the rain.

The library holds more than 400 of them, made for the plants people actually want and generally find difficult. Orchids and carnivorous plants. Mosses and ferns. The ones that fail slowly enough that you cannot tell what went wrong.

Not sure what you have? Point your phone at it. vIQ reads the plant through verdIQore BioSight, tells you what it is looking at, and opens the profile that suits it. The same horticulture runs through our guides, if you like knowing why.

This is the part of the system that took the longest and matters the most, because a terrarium that holds conditions perfectly is only as good as the conditions you told it to hold.

What a profile carries

Five things, kept in step.

On their own, these are all things a careful grower checks. Together, every day, for months, they are the reason people give up on the difficult plants.

Temperature, day and night
Most plants worth growing want a difference between the two. A profile knows which way that runs, and by how much, for the thing you are actually growing.
Humidity
The figure people get wrong most often, usually by aiming for the wettest thing they read online. Some plants want a rainforest. Others rot in one.
Light, and how long it lasts
Brightness is only half of it. Day length tells a plant what season it is, and that is what decides whether it flowers, rests, or simply keeps going.
Watering, and how often it rains
Little and often, or a proper soaking and then left alone. Getting this wrong looks the same as getting it right, until suddenly it does not.
Seasons
Plenty of species need a cooler, drier, shorter winter to stay healthy, and a few need one to survive at all. A profile carries that, so the year keeps a shape.

Still yours

A starting point, not a rule.

A profile is where your terrarium begins, not where it is stuck. Change anything you like from the app and it stays changed. Your plant, your room, your window: you will know things about all three that a library cannot.

vIQ will suggest. It can recommend plants that would live happily together, identify what you are growing, and tell you what it is seeing in the glass. Anything it works out comes to you, and you choose what to do with it.

The system runs the profile on the device itself, so it keeps holding the conditions even if the internet is down. More on that on the terrarium page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a verdIQore Eco Profile?

A set of conditions for one kind of plant: how warm, how humid, how bright, how long the day runs, and how often it rains. You choose the plant, and the terrarium holds those conditions without you working them out.

What if I am growing more than one thing?

Most terrariums hold several plants, and the useful question is which ones can share a set of conditions comfortably. The app helps you put together a planting that works as a group, and our guide on which plants grow well together covers the same ground.

Can I change a profile?

Yes. A profile is a starting point rather than a rule. You can change it, and what you change stays changed.

Does vIQ change the settings by itself?

Not yet. Right now it suggests, identifies and flags what it notices, and the next step is yours.

What happens if my plant is not in the library?

Use the closest profile and tweak it, or make one from scratch and keep it. The library keeps growing, and you can ask vIQ what it would suggest for the settings.
