About
We wanted the plants everyone calls too difficult.
Orchids, carnivorous plants, mosses. Beautiful, particular, and not very forgiving of a busy week. So we made something that looks after them properly, every day, whether or not anyone is home.
Why
The plant was not the hard part.
It was the weekend away. The radiator coming on in October. Eighty percent humidity, inside a house that sits at forty.
Orchids. Carnivorous plants. Mosses that sulk the moment the air dries out. None of them ask for much, really. They just ask for it every single day, including the days you are in back-to-back meetings, or in another country, or only asleep.
We know, because we kept getting it wrong. We wanted the striking ones, the sort of plant people stop and look at, and we wanted them in the room instead of a greenhouse down the garden. But between long days and a fair amount of travel, the everyday attention they needed was the one thing we could not reliably give them.
After a few honest attempts at doing it by hand, the answer got fairly obvious: give them their own small climate, and let something else mind it. That is verdIQore. A terrarium that holds the conditions steady on its own, with the intelligence there from the beginning rather than added later, so it does more than run to a timer. It pays attention.
The name

- Green, from verde in Spanish and Italian.

- The intelligence. Part of it from the start, not something bolted on later.
- Qore
- The core, borrowing its Q from the IQ.

The vision
Caring for a terrarium shouldn't require guesswork.
verdIQore was born from a simple idea: what if your terrarium could tell you exactly what it needs? What if it could sense the subtle shifts in humidity, anticipate when the soil is getting dry, and adjust conditions before your plants ever show signs of stress?
We're building a system that bridges the gap between intuition and data, one that respects the organic rhythms of nature while harnessing the precision of modern technology.
Our approach
A few things we decided early.
They shaped everything that followed, and they still hold.
- It tells you what it sees, not what to think
- vIQ will point out that a leaf looks different from last week. What that means is your call. Anything that sounded more certain than that would only be a guess in a lab coat.
- Nothing changes behind your back
- If the system reckons something ought to be different, it asks you first. You will not find your settings quietly rewritten by software that decided it knew better.
- It keeps going without us
- Climate, light and watering all run on the terrarium itself. Your internet can drop, our servers can have a bad day, and your plants will not notice either way.
- Your photos are yours, for good
- We do not delete something you made to save ourselves a bit of storage. Six years of one plant growing up is worth more than the space it takes.
